About the Workshop
What You Will Learn
The Basics
The job search process can seem overwhelming for first-time job seekers, so we will start with the basics. We will help you identify your strengths and skills, teach you how to research potential employers, how to fill out a job application correctly, how to present yourself professionally, and other essential skills.
Resume Writing
We will go over the key elements of a strong resume, such as clear formatting, concise language, and relevant experience. We will also provide you with some resume templates that have been proven successful in getting past automated screening software and getting candidates to an interview, and offer some tips for tailoring your resume to specific job applications.
Interview Skills
We will discuss different types of interviews and the types of questions you may be asked. We will also cover strategies for preparing for an interview, such as researching the company and practicing your responses to common questions. In addition, we will discuss fashion choices, body language, and other nonverbal communication cues that can help you make a positive impression on interviewers.
Approaching Employers
This will include strategies for finding job openings, such as networking and using job search websites. We will also provide tips for reaching out to employers, such as how to write an effective email or cover letter. Finally, we will discuss how to follow up after submitting your application or after an interview, and how to stay top-of-mind with potential employers.
Hands-On Practice
Throughout the workshop, you will have the opportunity to practice what you've learned through interactive exercises and group discussion. You will also receive personalized feedback and guidance from our experienced instructors. By the end of the workshop, you will have a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in your job search and the confidence to approach employers with a strong resume and polished interview skills.
